First, it’s interesting to note that soft drinks don’t necessarily have to be carbonated — technically, they’re all flavored soft drinks. An alcoholic drink is difficultwhereas is a soft drink Soft.
Although the makers of Schweppes Tonic Water, invented in 1783, claim their product was the world’s first soft drink, the history of soft drinks actually stretches back further. In the 1600s, a type of lemonade (water flavored with lemon and honey) became popular in Paris, and fizzy drinks soon followed. Europeans of the time thought drinking spring water was beneficial to health, and they attempted to create carbonated beverages to emulate it.
