Is it better to wash hands in warm or cold water?
A hot shower after a long day has many benefits, from relieving the stress of the day to relaxing muscles.
Doctors warn that a hot shower can also have negative effects on our health.
Previously, a study showed that an hour in a hot bath burns calories equivalent to walking for half an hour. The same study found that when participants took a hot bath, their peak blood sugar levels were about 10% lower after eating than after exercise.
Hot showers can also relieve cold or breathing problems, treat blemishes, and ensure a restful sleep.
But even a hot shower can have a negative impact on our health, especially when it comes to our skin.
dermatologist dr Rica Taylor, who specializes in health and beauty, said: “Colder showers are better for your skin as using very hot water can have negative effects on the skin. Hot water damages the keratin cells of the outermost layer of skin, or epidermis. High temperatures cause dry skin and aggravate skin conditions like eczema, which often result in red, itchy, and dry skin.
