How many times did Joe Biden run for President?

Joe Biden is currently in his third presidential bid. His first attempt at making it to the White House started in 1987, but he dropped out after a few months. He decided to try again 20 years later, but of course he became Barack Obama’s vice president in 2008 and subsequently served two terms as vice president. Which brings us to this year, 2020, where he is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Even though Biden considered running In 1980, 1984, and 2004, he never actually launched a campaign in any of those years.
